Popping up Downtown
As part of a push to revitalize Winnipeg's downtown area,
Centre Venture Development Corporation is offering new businesses a chance to occupy empty storefronts in the downtown area (at low-risk investment rates) in the form of pop-up shops. First up is
Exchange Uporium, who opened their doors yesterday in the gorgeous old Silpit building on the corner of Arthur and McDermot.
Featuring handmade goods like jewellery, pottery, accessories, artwork, natural cosmetics, housewares, nick nacks, and clothing (both new and vintage): everything is locally made and/or discovered. The space is beautiful and well-curated, and it provides Winnipegers with a unique opportunity to buy an array of local goods in one place.
Centre Venture's year-long pilot project, aptly named Pop Up Shop Hop, will be expanding over the coming months. So look forward to more pop-up goodness.
