Filling my Belly and Wearing Down my Soles
I've written before about the idea of being a tourist in your own city: in other words, harnessing the spirit of travel at home. This weekend, I feel I really achieved that goal, and am excited to share a few of the highlights with you.
On Friday night, I grabbed dinner and drinks with friends at The Grove (full review to follow Friday). Afterwards, we headed to The Toad's Whiskey bar for authentic old-fashioneds and whiskey sours.
On Saturday evening, we attended a wedding social (a Manitoba tradition), so Sunday morning called for a cheap and greasy breakfast from Danny's All Day Breakfast and Brunch at The Forks.
On Sunday afternoon, my lovely friend Lindsey joined me for a tour of Vaughan Street Gaol as part of Winnipeg's Doors Open event(post to follow in the coming weeks). Here we are goofing around while waiting in the (very) long line. The building only opens to the public for two days each year!
We side-tracked a bit during the tour to snap some extra photos. This place is incredible! I can't wait to share more pictures with you soon!
We were STARVING after four hours of walking around downtown and exploring old buildings. So we ended the afternoon chowing down on delicious burritos from Burrito Del Rio.
I hope you enjoy the photos, and remember, you can always see more on Instagram (@fullbellywornsoles).
