Little Sister Coffee Maker Opens!

I'm adding a mid-week post today in celebration of Little Sister Coffee Maker opening in Osborne Village. There are few things I love more than independently owned, artisanal coffee shops, and now The Village finally has one!

Little Sister Coffee Maker is a branch of Parlour, the very first coffee shop of its kind to open in Winnipeg's Exchange District. With spots like MAKECafé Postal and Thom Bargen recently cropping up as well, the independent coffee shop is a trend that's catching in Winnipeg.

The space itself is perfectly appointed. White hexagonal tiled flooring flows seamlessly into white subway tiling and exposed rock on the walls. With the low ceilings, large windows and warm whites accented by hits of mint, the space is simultaneously cozy and airy. A large, poured concrete countertop and natural wood add depth to the space. Throw in the Herman Miller plywood chairs and a turn table behind the counter for tunes? Seriously, I could live here.

Oh, and the coffee it great. It's got the same west-coast bitterness and flavour that Parlour is known for, and the milk is steamed to just the right temperature by knowledgeable baristas. There will also be a variety of baked goods and croissants available soon.

If you're able, get out to the Village and grab yourself a cup here soon. I know I'll be a regular fixture.
