Something like Jangoan

Project 1 description…
Growing up queer and unaware in a homophobic society turned me against myself, and it left me feeling angry and combative without understanding why. Something like Jangoan—an adaptation of a traditional Plattdeutsch word meaning one against others—plays with gaze, posture, and abjection to suggest an often complex, sometimes uncomfortable, and ultimately compassionate understanding of coming into queerness.
Selections from this body of work have been exhibited at PLATFORM Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba and are part of group show We Buy Gold at Gallery TPW in Toronto, Ontario.
